We have reached the 35th edition of the São Paulo International Short Film Festival, celebrating the magic of encounters that movie theaters provide. More than 280 films were selected, brought together in 52 programs—or 52 opportunities for encounters. In addition to the more than 3,000 films submitted to the International Exhibition, the program focused on the Global South, with special programs from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

A tribute to actor Paulo Cesar Pereio, the legend of virtues and vices of Brazilian cinema, alongside a new short film by Wim Wenders and a sample of the work of award-winning British director Jonathan Glazer made up the special program.

The Curta & Mercado project once again provided an opportunity for discussions on the making and dissemination of short films. A wide network of screening venues on the outskirts of São Paulo and in other cities in the interior also expanded the possibilities for encounters that only the movie theater can offer.
