Immersive Programs

Throughout the last 30 editions, the São Paulo International Short Film Festival has seen the transformations of Brazilian cinema, following the different media in which short films are finished and screened: starting with film, going through video and finally getting - with the inauguration of the Immersive Programs in 2019 - to all sorts of audiovisual windows beyond the screen boundaries, featuring 3D and virtual reality (VR) programs as well as a game selection.

This new program includes the immersive documentaries of Tadeu Jungle, a Brazilian videomaker who explores virtual reality to address urgent themes of Brazilian reality, and an exclusive selection of Courant3D Festival’s director François Serre who, in partnership with Unifrance, brings to São Paulo a collection of 3D shorts for all audiences as well as the best of the French VR.

A Hyper Festival’s VR compilation completes the program, selected by its director Fabio Hofnik, along with a great collection of Brazilian games - which are among the most celebrated games in the world today.

The program takes place in the Annex of Cinemateca Brasileira, in specially prepared booths and spaces that can provide all X-Reality features.
